I use unsalted nuts and seeds for this recipe. Make a batch of this Healthy Homemade Trail Mix and have a power packed snack on hand. There are numerous kinds of commercially available trail mixes but are expensive. It’s a balanced and satisfying snack to be consumed in moderation. But if made at home, you can control the ingredients and make it according to your taste. You can tweak and customize the recipe by either including or excluding nuts and seeds of your choice. I have added a dash of ginger powder and cinnamon  powder to the trail mix. Also have added ‘mishri’ or rock candy as a sweetener. You can use dark chocolate chips instead. Mishri is an excellent alternative to sugar. It is an energy booster, helps in digestion, helps sore throat, and also used as a breath freshener. Most Indian restaurants will have a combination of mishri and fennel seeds kept near the exit desks as it is a tradition to offer this after a meal. It is a good choice to use organic nuts and seeds. Make and keep this trail mix in an airtight container. It is easy to store and light-weight.
