Growing up in India, I always thought biscuits were yummy tea time cookies. But in Canada & the United States, biscuits are these soft, flaky small breads which have a crusty exterior & are soft inside, made with flour, baking powder, butter, milk etc. These are served sometimes as a savoury breakfast dish or as dinner rolls, it can also be eaten with honey, jams & fruit preserves. I wanted to make a version of these biscuits served at a favourite sea food restaurant that we frequent (they use cheddar cheese in their biscuit recipe), but turned out I only had a block of jalapeno havarti cheese in my refrigerator. So I ended up making these biscuits & must say they were delish :)
Havarti can be easily substituted with cheddar cheese.
