Dragon Paneer

Dragon Paneer is an Indian Chinese recipe. Indian Chinese is an adaptation of traditional Chinese cooking to cater Indian tastebuds. This type of cooking was first developed by the various Chinese settlers (mainly Hakka origin) in the eastern part of the India. Surprisingly now Indo - Chinese cuisine has become popular all over the world. Indians love eating spicy food. So it is no surprise that they like eating Chinese food spicy too! There are a number of popular Indo-Chinese dishes such as Hakka, Chilli, Garlic, Ginger, Schezwan, Manchurian and Jalfreize. One such popular dish is the Dragon Paneer. It is popularly served as an appetizer and sometimes also as an accompaniment with fried rice or noodle dishes. As the name suggests, it can be made fiery spicy if you wish and is one of the most loved Indo-Chinese recipes among vegetarians.

Ingredients
  • 500 g paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • oil (for deep frying the paneer)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic (chopped fine)
  • 3 dried red chillies
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 1 red onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
  • 1 green chilli (optional)
  • 1/4 sprig cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp chopped cashew/peanuts
  • 1/4 spring green onion (for garnish)
Instructions
  1. Add corn flour to the paneer cubes, mix well and keep aside for about 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the paneer cubes until golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
  3. Remove excess oil from the wok and add about 3 dried red chillies, ginger and chopped garlic. Saute for a minute.
  4. Now add chopped green pepper and onion. Add soy sauce, red chilli sauce and finely chopped green chillies if desired.
  5. Add a few drops of water and vinegar at this point if the sauce is too thick.
  6. Now add fried paneer and toss well. Top with roasted nuts.
  7. Garnish with finely chopped green onions and cilantro. Serve hot.
