Banana Split Sundae with Nuts and Chocolate
The banana sundae is a classic summer time dessert. This is one of our family favourites!

Ingredients

Bananas

tbsp.butter

1/2
cup brown sugar

cups vanilla ice cream

cup caramel sauce
-
a few
nuts and chocolate
(for garnish)
Instructions

Melt butter in a pan. Then add in the brown sugar for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Now add in the banana (cut into 2 inch rounds). Let the banana pieces brown on one side about 4 minutes. Then gently flip over the pieces and let brown on the other side too about 3 minutes.

Remove the caramelised bananas and let it cool on a plate.

Reserving a few bananas for garnish, fold in the rest of the bananas into the vanilla ice cream with a fork until the caramelised bananas incorporate well into the ice cream.

Store the ice cream in the freezer for at least 5 hours in the freezer.

To assemble the sundae, take a tall serving glass or bowl. Spoon a couple of tbsp. of the caramel sauce into it. Now fill it with a scoop of the banana ice cream. Repeat layer. Then top with some sliced pistachios, slivered almonds or chocolate chips and with the reserved caramelised banana pieces. Enjoy!
