Pazham Pori Recipe ( Kerala Style Plantain Fritters )
This is a recipe from Kerala. Pazham Pori or Ethakka Appam is a delicious sweet snack. Large bananas or plantains slices are coated in an all-purpose flour batter and then deep fried.

Ingredients

ripe plantains

cup all purpose flour
(maida)

1/4
cup rice flour

a pinch
salt to taste

a pinch
tsp. turmeric pd.

tbsp. sugar

tsp. ground cardamom

(to make batter)

oil for deep frying the fritters
Instructions

Whisk together 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/4 rice flour, a little salt, a little turmeric, 1/4. tsp. ground cardamom and 3 tbsp. sugar in a big glass bowl. Add about 1 cup water to this, a little at a time to blend this into a smooth batter. leave this batter aside for about 20 minutes.

Peel 3 plantains and cut each into 2 halves. Then slice each half into 3 long slices.

Heat oil in a wok. Dip plantain pieces in the prepared batter and deep fry them in hot oil until evenly browned. Drain on kitchen napkins and serve pazham pori with tea or coffee.
