Mexican Hot Chocolate

Mexican hot chocolate is a popular drink. It tastes delicious on its own or served with churros (a deep fried pastry also known as the Spanish doughnut) or any other cookies.

Ingredients
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1/3 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • Some sugar/sweetner (optional)
Instructions
  1. Put all the ingredients (except cocoa powder) in a medium saucepan & bring it to a boil, stirring constantly.
  2. Let it simmer on low heat for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Pour the contents into 2 mugs & sprinkle with a dusting of cocoa powder. Serve hot.
  4. Can be served with churros, cookies or even some vanilla ice cream on top :)
