Gobhi Masala

"Gobhi Masala" is a delicious curry dish popular among vegetarians.

Ingredients
  • 1 medium cauliflower
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp. flaked almonds
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 2 medium onions
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 2 tsp. chilli pd.
  • 2 tsp. coriander pd.
  • 1/2 tsp.turmeric
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • a little salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp. melted ghee/oil
  • 2 tbsp. cilantro leaves
Instructions
  1. Soak almonds and sesame seeds in 1/2 cup water. Clean and cut cauliflower into medium florets. Chop the onions and tomato and keep aside.
  2. Grind ginger, garlic, green chillies, soaked almond-sesame adding a little more water if necessary.
  3. Heat a pan with melted ghee/oil and fry cauliflower florets about 4 to 5 minutes until they are a little tender. With the help of a slotted spoon, remove the florets onto a plate and keep aside. chopped onion slices until golden brown.Add the tomatoes and cook about 5 minutes.
  4. Now add chopped onion slices to the same pan and fry until golden brown.Add the tomatoes and cook about 5 minutes. Add all the dry spices and the ground paste. Stir well and add in the yogurt.
  5. Finally add in semi cooked cauliflower florets into the masala, cover and cook for 10 minutes or until the water is dried. Serve warm, garnished with finely chopped coriander.
