Besan Ladoo

Ingredients
  • 2 cups chana dal
  • 3/4 cups melted ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 2 tbsp. pistachios, almonds and cashew nuts (for garnish)
Instructions
  1. Dry roast the chana dal in a pan for about 10 minutes on medium flame. Let it cool and then grind it into a coarse pd.
  2. In a heavy bottom pan, roast this coarse powder for about 15 minutes, Keep stirring in between so that the pd. does not burn.
  3. Then add in about 1/2 cup of the melted ghee and mix well.
  4. Keep stirring another 10 to 15 minutes until it emits a sweet aroma.
  5. Now add in the finely chopped nuts and a little more ghee.
  6. Now add in the ground cardamom pd. Mix well and switch off the flame.
  7. Transfer the contents onto a greased steel plate and let it cool a few minutes.
  8. Add 1/4 cup warm milk, mix well. Take about 2 tbsp. each and roll them out into ladoos. Garnish each laoo with a pistachio and store in an air tight container.
Recipe Notes

These ladoos keep well at room temperature for about a week. If u keep them refrigerated, warm the ladoos for only about 10 seconds in the microwave before serving.
